Senior Officer - Micro - Environmental Monitoring

The Senior Officer – Microbiology (Environmental Monitoring) will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of environmental hygiene and microbial safety in production, laboratory, and critical cleanroom areas. This is crucial for ensuring product quality, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Conduct routine environmental monitoring of clean rooms, production areas, laboratories, and controlled environments to ensure compliance with microbial limits.
• Perform microbiological testing on air, surface, water, and personnel samples using validated and appropriate techniques.
• Calibrate, maintain, and validate microbiology instruments such as particle counters, air samplers, incubators, autoclaves, and microscopes.
• Analyze environmental monitoring data to detect trends, deviations, and potential contamination risks; prepare detailed reports for management review.
• Implement corrective and preventive actions based on environmental monitoring outcomes to maintain GMP compliance.
• Ensure all monitoring procedures, testing methods, and documentation are compliant with GMP, GLP, ISO, and regulatory guidelines.
• Maintain accurate logs of environmental monitoring activities, including equipment calibration, sampling schedules, and results.
• Conduct trend analysis of microbial counts and alert production or QA teams in case of deviations or critical events.
• Support internal and external audits by providing accurate documentation and explaining environmental monitoring processes.
• Train and mentor junior microbiology staff on environmental monitoring techniques, aseptic handling, and good laboratory practices.
• Participate in validation, qualification, and risk assessment activities for new or modified controlled environments and critical utilities.
• Coordinate with QA, Production, and Engineering teams to address microbial control issues, deviations, and CAPA implementation.
• Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of microbiological samples and biohazard materials.
• Maintain and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), sampling plans, and microbial testing protocols.
• Support root cause analysis of contamination events and recommend process improvements to minimize microbial risks.
• Monitor and maintain environmental monitoring equipment and laboratory utilities for optimal performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams for continuous improvement of environmental hygiene and contamination control practices.
• Stay updated with current regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and scientific developments in microbiology and environmental monitoring.
• Promote a culture of quality, safety, and compliance within the microbiology team and the organization.
