Job Description

Physician Assistant - Laboratory Medicine is responsible for supporting physicians and laboratory teams in patient care, diagnostic coordination, sample management, and clinical documentation related to laboratory medicine services. The involves assisting in diagnostic procedures, coordinating laboratory investigations, monitoring patient-related laboratory requirements, and ensuring smooth communication between clinicians, patients, and laboratory departments.


Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Assist physicians and laboratory specialists in diagnostic and patient care activities.
  • Coordinate laboratory investigations, sample collection, and diagnostic procedures for patients.
  • Ensure proper handling, labeling, and transportation of laboratory specimens.
  • Support preparation and maintenance of patient laboratory records and documentation.
  • Monitor pending investigations and follow up on laboratory reports and test results.
  • Coordinate with laboratory technicians, doctors, and nursing staff regarding diagnostic requirements.
  • Assist in explaining basic laboratory procedures and test preparation instructions to patients.
  • Maintain accurate records of patient investigations, reports, and follow-up activities.
  • Ensure smooth communication between laboratory departments and clinical teams.
  • Support physicians during diagnostic procedures and patient evaluations when required.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information, laboratory reports, and medical records.
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols, infection control practices, and hospital guidelines.
  • Assist in maintaining laboratory workflow and operational coordination.
  • Support inventory monitoring and availability of laboratory supplies and consumables when required.
  • Coordinate urgent investigations and emergency diagnostic requirements efficiently.
  • Prepare reports, data entries, and documentation related to laboratory medicine services.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and departmental coordination activities.
  • Ensure cleanliness, organization, and proper maintenance of work areas and documentation systems.
  • Stay updated with laboratory procedures, diagnostic protocols, and healthcare practices.
  • Maintain professionalism, discipline, and patient-friendly communication at all times.
  • Perform additional clinical and laboratory coordination responsibilities assigned by management or supervisors.
