Junior Consultant – Pediatric & Neonatology

The Junior Consultant – Pediatric & Neonatology will handle outpatient and inpatient pediatric cases, manage neonatal care including NICU support, and work closely with multidisciplinary teams. This requires strong clinical expertise, quick decision-making ability, and a patient-centric approach.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Provide consultation, diagnosis, and treatment for pediatric and neonatal patients.
• Manage neonatal cases including preterm, low birth weight, and critical newborns.
• Handle NICU cases and provide intensive care support when required.
• Conduct routine pediatric check-ups, immunizations, and developmental assessments.
• Monitor growth, nutrition, and developmental milestones of children.
• Attend deliveries and provide immediate newborn care and resuscitation if required.
• Manage pediatric emergencies and provide timely medical intervention.
• Coordinate with obstetricians and other specialists for neonatal care.
• Maintain accurate patient records, case sheets, and clinical documentation.
• Educate parents and caregivers on child health, nutrition, and preventive care.
• Ensure adherence to infection control and patient safety protocols.
• Participate in ward rounds, case discussions, and multidisciplinary meetings.
• Assist in medical audits and quality improvement initiatives.
• Follow clinical guidelines, protocols, and hospital policies.
• Work in shifts, including night duties and on-call responsibilities.
• Stay updated with advancements in pediatric and neonatal care.
• Provide counseling to parents regarding neonatal and pediatric conditions.
• Ensure proper use and maintenance of medical equipment in NICU and wards.
• Support training and mentoring of junior staff and nursing teams.
• Maintain professionalism, empathy, and effective communication with patients and families.
