Registrar/JC- Anaesthesia with CTVS

The Registrar/JC – Anaesthesia (CTVS) will play a crucial in managing anesthesia for complex cardiac and vascular procedures, ensuring patient safety, and supporting post-operative critical care. This requires strong clinical expertise in cardiac anesthesia, the ability to handle high-acuity cases, and effective collaboration with surgical and ICU teams.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive pre-anesthetic evaluations for CTVS patients including history, physical examination, and risk assessment.
• Develop and implement anesthesia plans tailored for cardiothoracic and vascular surgical procedures.
• Administer general anesthesia, regional blocks, and sedation as per clinical requirements.
• Manage intra-operative anesthesia for complex cardiac surgeries including CABG, valve replacements, and vascular procedures.
• Monitor vital parameters including ECG, invasive blood pressure, CVP, arterial lines, and cardiac output.
• Assist in advanced monitoring techniques such as transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) where applicable.
• Manage airway, intubation, ventilation, and hemodynamic stability during procedures.
• Administer and titrate anesthetic agents, inotropes, vasopressors, and anticoagulants.
• Handle intra-operative emergencies such as arrhythmias, hypotension, bleeding, and cardiac events.
• Collaborate closely with cardiac surgeons, perfusionists, and OT teams during surgeries.
• Support post-operative care in ICU including ventilator management and pain control.
• Participate in early recovery protocols and ensure safe patient transfer from OT to ICU.
• Maintain accurate anesthesia records, documentation, and procedure notes.
• Ensure adherence to infection control practices, safety protocols, and hospital guidelines.
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, case discussions, and morbidity and mortality meetings.
• Assist in emergency and high-risk surgical cases with prompt response and preparedness.
• Supervise and guide junior doctors, residents, and OT staff when required.
• Ensure proper functioning and maintenance of anesthesia machines and monitoring equipment.
• Communicate effectively with patients and families regarding anesthesia procedures and risks.
• Participate in audits, quality improvement programs, and accreditation processes.
• Stay updated with advancements in cardiac anesthesia techniques and technologies.
• Ensure compliance with ethical standards, hospital policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
• Work in rotational shifts, including emergency and on-call duties.
• Contribute to improving patient outcomes and excellence in cardiac anesthesia services.
