Medical Officer- Department of Paediatrics

The Medical Officer – Paediatrics is responsible for managing pediatric cases in OPD, IPD, and emergency settings, supporting consultants in delivering high-quality care, and ensuring proper clinical management of young patients. This requires strong clinical knowledge in pediatrics, excellent communication skills, and a patient-centric approach.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Assess, diagnose, and manage a wide range of pediatric conditions in outpatient and inpatient settings.
• Conduct thorough medical examinations, history taking, and developmental assessments of children.
• Monitor growth parameters, immunization status, and overall health of pediatric patients.
• Implement treatment plans, prescribe medications, and provide supportive care as per protocols.
• Manage pediatric emergencies including respiratory distress, seizures, infections, and trauma.
• Assist consultants during pediatric procedures and critical care management when required.
• Monitor patient progress, vital signs, and response to treatment regularly.
• Coordinate with pediatricians, neonatologists, and other specialists for comprehensive care.
• Provide guidance to parents and caregivers regarding child health, nutrition, and preventive care.
• Educate families about immunization schedules, hygiene practices, and disease prevention.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, case sheets, and clinical documentation.
• Ensure adherence to infection control protocols and pediatric safety standards.
• Handle neonatal cases and provide basic newborn care when required.
• Participate in ward rounds, case discussions, and multidisciplinary team meetings.
• Assist in admission, discharge, and follow-up planning for pediatric patients.
