Accessioning Officer

The Accessioning Officer will handle sample receipt, patient data verification, test registration, barcoding, sorting, and sample dispatch to laboratory departments. This requires accuracy, computer knowledge, sample handling discipline, and coordination with collection centers. The candidate will ensure smooth pre-analytical operations and reduce sample or data errors.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Receive and verify samples from collection centers and logistics teams.
• Check requisition forms, barcodes, patient details, and test information.
• Register samples accurately in laboratory software or LIS.
• Sort and dispatch samples to appropriate laboratory departments.
• Identify and report sample mismatch, leakage, wrong tube, or insufficient quantity.
• Maintain accessioning records, pending sample lists, and rejection documentation.
• Coordinate with phlebotomy, logistics, customer care, and lab teams.
• Follow biosafety, sample handling, and infection control protocols.
• Prioritize urgent and time-sensitive samples for faster processing.
• Maintain accuracy in data entry and sample labeling.
• Keep the accessioning area clean, organized, and safe.
• Support error-free laboratory sample workflow.
