Job Description
Staff Nurse - ICU is responsible for providing continuous nursing care to critically ill patients under the supervision of doctors and senior nursing staff. The includes monitoring patients, administering medicines, maintaining ICU records, supporting emergency care, and following infection control standards. The candidate should have good ICU knowledge, patient observation skills, teamwork ability, and dedication to safe and compassionate critical care nursing.
Role & Responsibilities
- Monitor ICU patients regularly and record vital signs accurately.
- Administer prescribed medicines, injections, IV fluids, and nursing care on time.
- Observe patient condition and report changes immediately to senior nurses or doctors.
- Assist doctors and senior staff during ICU rounds, procedures, and emergency care.
- Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and infection control practices in the ICU.
- Support oxygen therapy, nebulization, suctioning, and basic critical care procedures.
- Check and maintain ICU equipment such as monitors, infusion pumps, and oxygen devices.
- Prepare patients for investigations, procedures, or transfer as instructed.
- Maintain accurate ICU charts, nursing notes, medication records, and intake-output records.
- Provide comfort, emotional support, and basic communication to patients and attendants.
- Follow handover protocols during shift changes to ensure continuity of care.
- Help maintain stock of medicines, consumables, linen, and emergency supplies.
- Follow patient safety guidelines including fall prevention, pressure sore prevention, and infection prevention.
- Dispose biomedical waste according to hospital policy and safety standards.
- Maintain confidentiality and professional behavior while caring for ICU patients.
