Senior Staff Nurse - ICU

Senior Staff Nurse - ICU is responsible for delivering specialized critical care nursing to patients requiring intensive monitoring and advanced clinical support. The includes patient assessment, medication administration, ventilator care support, emergency response, documentation, and supervision of junior nurses. The candidate should have strong ICU experience, clinical judgment, infection control knowledge, and the ability to manage critically ill patients with compassion and accuracy.

Role & Responsibilities

• Provide advanced nursing care to critically ill patients admitted in the ICU.
• Monitor vital signs, oxygen saturation, ECG, intake-output, and patient clinical status.
• Assist doctors during ICU procedures, emergency interventions, and critical care rounds.
• Administer medications, IV fluids, injections, and infusions as prescribed.
• Support ventilated patients and monitor ventilator parameters under clinical guidance.
• Identify early signs of patient deterioration and escalate immediately to the medical team.
• Supervise junior nurses and ensure accurate implementation of ICU nursing protocols.
• Maintain infection control practices including hand hygiene, isolation care, and aseptic procedures.
• Prepare and maintain ICU equipment such as monitors, syringe pumps, oxygen devices, and suction.
• Document nursing care, medication records, progress notes, and ICU charts accurately.
• Educate patient attendants regarding ICU rules, patient condition updates, and safety measures.
• Ensure safe patient transfer for investigations, procedures, or step-down care.
• Participate in code blue, emergency response, and resuscitation support when required.
• Maintain stock of emergency drugs, consumables, and critical care supplies.
• Follow hospital policies, patient safety standards, and quality care guidelines.
