Medical Oncology Counselor

The Medical Oncology Counselor will provide counselling support to oncology patients and families, treatment guidance, emotional support, nutrition and financial coordination assistance, documentation, and multidisciplinary care coordination at PD Hinduja Hospital & Medical Research Centre, Mumbai. This requires 1–4 years of experience in oncology counselling, patient counselling, or healthcare coordination.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Counsel oncology patients and families regarding treatment journey, hospital process, and supportive care.
• Provide emotional support and help patients understand appointments, investigations, therapy plans, and follow-up.
• Coordinate with medical oncologists, nurses, nutrition team, finance, billing, pharmacy, and patient care teams.
• Guide patients regarding chemotherapy workflow, medication instructions, side effect awareness, and precautions under clinical guidance.
• Support financial counselling coordination, estimate explanation, insurance assistance, and assistance program follow-up.
• Maintain patient counselling notes, treatment trackers, follow-up records, and communication logs.
• Identify patient concerns and escalate clinical, financial, or service issues to the right department.
• Support nutrition counselling coordination and holistic patient care support.
• Help patients with scheduling, report follow-up, next visit planning, and treatment continuity.
• Maintain confidentiality, empathy, and professional communication at all times.
• Support patient education activities and oncology awareness initiatives.
• Ensure compassionate, organized, and patient-centered oncology counselling support.
