Associate General Manager- Projects

The Associate General Manager – Projects will oversee the complete lifecycle of API manufacturing projects including planning, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover. The requires strong technical expertise in pharmaceutical engineering, leadership in cross-functional coordination, and the ability to manage complex, multi-site projects while ensuring adherence to cGMP, EHS, and global regulatory standards.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Lead end-to-end execution of greenfield and brownfield API projects from concept to commissioning.
• Develop detailed project plans, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation strategies.
• Ensure timely delivery of projects within approved scope, cost, and quality parameters.
• Coordinate with consultants, EPC contractors, and vendors for engineering, procurement, and construction activities.
• Oversee installation, commissioning, and qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ) of process and utility systems.
• Review and approve engineering documents such as PFDs, P&IDs, layouts, and equipment specifications.
• Ensure facility design and engineering comply with cGMP and global regulatory standards (USFDA, EMA, MHRA, WHO).
• Provide technical leadership in utilities including HVAC, WFI, clean steam, compressed air, and chillers.
• Support technology transfer, process scale-up, and equipment selection in coordination with R&D and manufacturing teams.
• Collaborate with Production, QA, QC, Regulatory, EHS, and Procurement teams for smooth execution.
• Manage vendor selection, contract negotiation, and procurement processes in coordination with finance and sourcing teams.
• Lead and mentor site-based project teams, ensuring effective communication and accountability.
• Conduct risk assessments, HAZOP studies, and implement mitigation strategies.
• Ensure strict adherence to EHS, safety, and quality standards across all project phases.
• Monitor project progress using tools such as Primavera, MS Project, and AutoCAD.
• Prepare and present detailed project reports, dashboards, and updates to senior management.
• Track project KPIs, milestones, and financial performance, implementing corrective actions when required.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation in compliance with GMP and project management standards.
• Ensure readiness for audits, inspections, and regulatory approvals related to project facilities.
• Drive cost optimization, efficiency improvement, and innovation in project execution.
• Manage multi-location and international projects, ensuring alignment with global standards.
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders, consultants, and external partners.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and standardization across project functions.
