Resident Medical Officer

The Resident Medical Officer will be responsible for assessing and managing patients in wards, ICU, and emergency settings, coordinating with consultants, ensuring timely clinical interventions, and maintaining accurate medical documentation. The requires strong clinical judgment, quick decision-making skills, and the ability to handle critical as well as non-critical cases efficiently while ensuring continuity of care and patient safety.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Conduct initial and ongoing assessment of patients across wards, ICU, and emergency departments.
• Monitor patient conditions and ensure timely medical interventions.
• Respond promptly to emergencies and provide immediate stabilization and treatment.
• Coordinate with consultants for diagnosis, treatment planning, and patient management.
• Perform regular ward rounds and update patient progress notes.
• Review laboratory and diagnostic reports and escalate critical findings.
• Prescribe medications as per consultant guidance and hospital protocols.
• Maintain accurate and complete patient medical records and documentation.
• Coordinate with nursing staff to ensure proper patient care and monitoring.
• Assist in patient admissions, transfers, and discharge processes.
• Prepare discharge summaries and ensure completion of all formalities.
• Attend Code Blue and other emergency calls and manage critical situations.
• Respond to ambulance calls and emergency admissions effectively.
• Coordinate with departments like lab, radiology, and blood bank for investigations.
• Ensure adherence to hospital policies, clinical protocols, and safety standards.
• Maintain proper communication during shift handovers for continuity of care.
• Assist consultants during procedures and clinical evaluations.
• Support infection control practices and patient safety measures.
• Perform additional duties assigned by senior medical staff or management.
• Maintain professionalism, ethics, and patient confidentiality at all times.
