Job Description
The ICU Staff Nurse will be responsible for delivering specialized nursing care to critically ill patients, monitoring vital parameters, administering medications, and assisting in life-saving procedures. The requires strong clinical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in high-pressure environments.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in the ICU.
- Monitor vital signs, neurological status, and overall patient condition continuously.
- Administer medications, IV fluids, and treatments as prescribed.
- Operate and monitor life-support equipment such as ventilators and monitors.
- Assist doctors during critical procedures and emergency interventions.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records and nursing documentation.
- Ensure strict adherence to infection control and ICU protocols.
- Assess patient condition regularly and report any changes immediately.
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative care to ICU patients.
- Manage patient hygiene, comfort, and nutritional needs.
- Support and counsel patients’ families regarding patient condition and care.
- Handle emergency situations such as Code Blue effectively.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams for optimal patient care.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of ICU equipment.
- Follow biomedical waste management and safety protocols.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the ICU environment.
- Participate in clinical audits, training, and quality improvement programs.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, SOPs, and NABH standards.
- Maintain professionalism, empathy, and patient confidentiality at all times.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by senior nursing staff or management.
