Job Description
The Pharmacist will be responsible for dispensing medications, reviewing prescriptions, maintaining inventory, and ensuring compliance with pharmaceutical regulations. The requires accuracy, strong knowledge of medications, and coordination with doctors and nursing staff to ensure optimal patient care.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Dispense medications accurately as per prescriptions and hospital guidelines.
- Review prescriptions for dosage accuracy, drug interactions, and contraindications.
- Ensure proper labeling, packaging, and storage of medicines.
- Maintain pharmacy inventory, including stock levels, expiry tracking, and procurement.
- Ensure availability of essential and emergency medications at all times.
- Provide medication counseling to patients regarding usage, dosage, and side effects.
- Maintain records of prescriptions, controlled drugs, and dispensing logs.
- Ensure compliance with pharmacy laws, hospital policies, and safety standards.
- Monitor storage conditions including temperature-sensitive medications.
- Coordinate with doctors and nursing staff for medication-related queries.
- Conduct periodic stock audits and report discrepancies if any.
- Manage high-alert medications and narcotics as per regulatory guidelines.
- Support billing and documentation related to pharmacy services.
- Ensure proper disposal of expired or damaged medications as per protocols.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy area.
- Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
- Stay updated with new drugs, therapies, and pharmaceutical practices.
- Handle emergency medication requirements efficiently.
- Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards in handling patient information.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by hospital management.
