Job Description
The Respiratory Therapist will be responsible for assessing, treating, and managing patients with respiratory conditions. The involves working closely with doctors and critical care teams to provide life-support therapies, monitor patient progress, and ensure optimal respiratory function.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess patients with breathing or cardiopulmonary disorders.
- Administer oxygen therapy, nebulization, and other respiratory treatments.
- Manage and monitor ventilators, CPAP, and BiPAP machines.
- Assist in intubation and airway management procedures.
- Monitor patient response to respiratory therapies and adjust treatment as needed.
- Perform pulmonary function tests and other diagnostic procedures.
- Provide emergency respiratory care in ICU and emergency settings.
- Maintain and check respiratory equipment for proper functioning.
- Ensure adherence to infection control and safety protocols.
- Educate patients and families on respiratory care and therapy usage.
- Maintain accurate patient records and treatment documentation.
- Coordinate with doctors, nurses, and ICU teams for patient management.
- Participate in Code Blue and emergency response teams.
- Ensure proper handling and maintenance of oxygen supply systems.
- Follow hospital policies, SOPs, and clinical guidelines.
- Participate in quality improvement and audit activities.
- Stay updated with advancements in respiratory therapy and critical care.
- Maintain professionalism, empathy, and patient confidentiality.
- Support training and guidance for junior staff when required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
