Job Description

The CSSD Technician plays a key in infection prevention and surgical safety by ensuring that instruments and sterile materials are properly cleaned, packed, sterilized, stored, and issued to user departments. The candidate should follow strict CSSD protocols, maintain sterilization records, and coordinate closely with OT, ICU, wards, nursing, infection control, and biomedical teams.


Roles & Responsibilities

  • Receive used instruments and materials from OT, ICU, wards, and clinical departments.
  • Clean, wash, disinfect, inspect, pack, label, and sterilize instruments as per CSSD protocol.
  • Operate autoclave and related sterilization equipment as per SOP.
  • Maintain sterile sets, surgical trays, dressing materials, and instrument packs properly.
  • Check instrument condition, missing items, damaged instruments, and sterilization indicators.
  • Maintain CSSD records, sterilization logs, load records, issue registers, and equipment documentation.
  • Coordinate with OT, ICU, wards, nursing, infection control, biomedical, and housekeeping teams.
  • Follow infection control, PPE, biomedical waste, safety, and sterilization standards.
  • Ensure proper storage and dispatch of sterile materials to user departments.
  • Report equipment faults, sterilization failure, instrument shortage, or contamination issues promptly.
  • Support audits, quality checks, and traceability of sterilized items.
  • Ensure safe, accurate, and infection-control-focused CSSD operations.
