Chemist - Production

The Chemist – Production will be responsible for executing day-to-day manufacturing activities, monitoring processes, maintaining documentation, and ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards. The involves handling production equipment, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring efficient and compliant production of pharmaceutical products.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Execute manufacturing activities as per approved Batch Manufacturing Records (BMR) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Operate and monitor production equipment used in formulation, encapsulation, mixing, drying, and packing processes.
• Ensure proper dispensing, handling, and usage of raw materials and packing materials as per process requirements.
• Monitor critical process parameters such as temperature, humidity, pressure, and mixing time to ensure consistent product quality.
• Perform in-process checks and report any deviations or abnormalities during manufacturing.
• Maintain accurate and real-time documentation in BMRs, logbooks, and production records in compliance with GDP practices.
• Ensure strict adherence to current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and data integrity (ALCOA+) requirements.
• Coordinate with QA and QC departments for sampling, in-process testing, and batch release activities.
• Ensure proper status labeling of materials, equipment, and production areas to avoid mix-ups and cross-contamination.
• Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and housekeeping of production areas as per GMP guidelines.
• Follow safety protocols, use personal protective equipment (PPE), and ensure safe handling of materials and equipment.
• Assist in preventive maintenance, cleaning, and calibration of production equipment in coordination with the engineering team.
• Participate in validation activities such as process validation, cleaning validation, and equipment qualification.
• Monitor production yield, minimize wastage, and contribute to cost-saving and productivity improvement initiatives.
• Handle and document deviations, incidents, and change controls as part of Quality Management System (QMS).
• Ensure proper storage and handling of intermediates and finished products during manufacturing stages.
• Support troubleshooting of process-related issues and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
• Coordinate with warehouse for timely availability and issuance of raw and packing materials.
• Participate in internal and external audits and ensure audit readiness of the production area.
• Maintain discipline and ensure smooth workflow on the shop floor.
• Assist in training operators and new employees on SOPs, GMP practices, and safety procedures.
• Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and environmental health & safety (EHS) requirements.
• Support new product trials, scale-up batches, and technology transfer activities.
• Prepare daily production reports and update supervisors on production status and issues.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance process efficiency and product quality.
