Job Description
The OT Technician will be responsible for assisting in surgical procedures, preparing operation theatres, managing instruments and equipment, and ensuring strict adherence to infection control protocols. The requires technical expertise, precision, and the ability to work effectively in high-pressure surgical environments while supporting surgeons and nursing staff.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Prepare operation theatre for surgeries including equipment, instruments, and supplies.
- Ensure proper sterilization and arrangement of surgical instruments before procedures.
- Assist surgeons, anesthetists, and nursing staff during surgical procedures.
- Maintain strict aseptic and infection control practices in the OT.
- Check and ensure proper functioning of OT equipment and machines.
- Handle surgical instruments carefully during procedures and post-operation.
- Assist in patient preparation, positioning, and transfer for surgeries.
- Monitor OT environment and maintain cleanliness and sterility at all times.
- Coordinate with CSSD for supply and return of sterile instruments.
- Maintain inventory of OT supplies and inform for replenishment when required.
- Dispose biomedical waste as per hospital protocols and safety guidelines.
- Assist in post-operative cleaning and preparation for next procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of OT procedures, instruments, and consumables used.
- Ensure readiness of emergency equipment and supplies in OT.
- Support in handling emergency and trauma cases efficiently.
- Follow hospital policies, SOPs, and NABH guidelines.
- Report equipment malfunctions and coordinate for timely repairs.
- Ensure patient safety and confidentiality throughout surgical procedures.
- Assist in maintaining OT logs, checklists, and documentation.
- Participate in training and continuous skill development programs.
