Job Description

The Senior Registrar will assist in clinical microbiology services by reviewing culture reports, guiding microbiology workflow, supporting infection control practices, and coordinating with clinicians for critical microbiology findings. The requires strong knowledge of microbiology, reporting accuracy, biosafety, and professional communication.


Roles & Responsibilities

  • Review microbiology reports, culture results, sensitivity patterns, and infection-related diagnostic findings.
  • Support clinical interpretation and communication of urgent microbiology results.
  • Coordinate with clinicians, infection control team, laboratory staff, ICU, wards, and quality teams.
  • Monitor laboratory documentation, SOP compliance, sample quality, and reporting timelines.
  • Support antimicrobial stewardship activities and infection control surveillance when required.
  • Guide junior staff or technicians on sample handling, reporting accuracy, and documentation.
  • Maintain microbiology records, test reports, registers, and departmental documentation.
  • Review contamination concerns, abnormal trends, and critical findings.
  • Participate in audits, quality improvement, and departmental meetings.
  • Follow biosafety, laboratory safety, confidentiality, and ethical medical practice.
  • Support accurate, reliable, and timely microbiology reporting.
  • Ensure organized and compliant microbiology department support.
