Oncology Nurse

The Oncology Nurse will provide specialized nursing care to cancer patients, chemotherapy support, oncology day care assistance, patient monitoring, documentation, and compassionate communication at Apollo Hospitals, Bengaluru. This requires GNM or B.Sc Nursing qualification with 3–5 years of oncology nursing experience.

Long Job Description

The Oncology Nurse will support patients receiving chemotherapy, cancer treatment, surgical oncology care, medical oncology care, and BMT-related services. The requires strong patient monitoring skills, emotional sensitivity, medication safety awareness, and understanding of oncology protocols.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to oncology patients in ward, day care, chemotherapy unit, or assigned area.
• Assist in chemotherapy preparation support, administration workflow, and patient monitoring under protocol.
• Monitor vitals, treatment response, side effects, pain, hydration, and patient comfort.
• Support medical oncology, surgical oncology, BMT, and cancer care teams during treatment.
• Maintain chemotherapy records, medication charts, nursing notes, and patient care documentation.
• Follow chemotherapy safety, infection control, PPE, spill management, and biomedical waste protocols.
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment process, side effects, precautions, and follow-up care.
• Report adverse reactions, abnormal vitals, or patient deterioration immediately.
• Coordinate with doctors, pharmacy, laboratory, billing, and patient care teams.
• Maintain patient dignity, privacy, confidentiality, and compassionate communication.
• Support counselling and emotional care for cancer patients and families.
• Deliver safe, ethical, and patient-centered oncology nursing care.
