Emergency Doctor

The Emergency Doctor plays a critical in delivering life-saving care by quickly assessing patients, initiating treatment, and performing advanced medical procedures. This requires excellent clinical judgment, the ability to work under pressure, and strong collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Perform rapid assessment and stabilization of patients presenting with life-threatening conditions such as cardiac emergencies, trauma, strokes, and respiratory distress.
• Provide immediate treatment and initiate life-saving interventions in emergency situations.
• Conduct thorough clinical evaluations, including history taking and physical examinations under time-sensitive conditions.
• Perform advanced medical procedures such as endotracheal intubation, central line insertion, chest tube placement, defibrillation, suturing, and wound management.
• Administer emergency medications, IV fluids, and resuscitative measures as per clinical protocols.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests including imaging, ECG, and laboratory investigations for quick decision-making.
• Manage patient triage, prioritize cases based on severity, and ensure efficient patient flow within the emergency department.
• Coordinate with specialists and consultants for referrals, admissions, or further management.
• Monitor patient progress and provide continuous care until stabilization or transfer.
• Communicate effectively with patients and families regarding condition, treatment, and prognosis.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all clinical findings, procedures, and treatment plans.
• Ensure adherence to infection control practices, patient safety protocols, and emergency care standards.
• Respond promptly to code blue and mass casualty situations.
• Collaborate with nursing staff, paramedics, and other healthcare professionals for coordinated care.
• Handle medico-legal cases with proper documentation and compliance with legal requirements.
• Ensure proper utilization and readiness of emergency equipment and supplies.
• Participate in emergency drills, training programs, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Maintain calmness, efficiency, and professionalism in high-pressure situations.
• Supervise junior doctors, residents, and emergency staff when required.
• Stay updated with advancements in emergency medicine and trauma care.
