Gastro Technician

The Gastro Technician will be responsible for preparing endoscopy rooms, assisting during procedures such as endoscopy and colonoscopy, and ensuring proper handling and maintenance of specialized equipment. This requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and adherence to infection control standards.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Prepare and set up endoscopy and gastro procedure rooms prior to examinations.
• Assist doctors during procedures such as endoscopy, colonoscopy, and related interventions.
• Handle, clean, disinfect, and sterilize endoscopic equipment as per protocols.
• Ensure availability of all necessary instruments, accessories, and consumables.
• Support patient preparation, positioning, and post-procedure care.
• Monitor patients during procedures and report any abnormalities to the medical team.
• Maintain proper documentation of procedures, equipment usage, and patient details.
• Ensure strict adherence to infection control and sterilization guidelines.
• Perform leak testing and maintenance of endoscopes and related equipment.
• Coordinate with CSSD for sterilization and instrument management.
• Maintain inventory of gastro-related instruments and supplies.
• Identify and report equipment malfunctions and coordinate for repairs.
• Assist in emergency procedures and critical care situations when required.
• Ensure proper biomedical waste disposal as per guidelines.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the endoscopy unit.
• Follow hospital protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in audits and quality improvement initiatives.
• Work in rotational shifts including weekends and emergency duties.
• Provide support and reassurance to patients before and after procedures.
