Junior Consultant/ Senior Registrar in General Surgery

The Junior Consultant / Senior Registrar will be responsible for assisting and performing surgical procedures, managing patient care, and supporting senior consultants in clinical decision-making. The involves evaluating patients, coordinating surgical planning, and ensuring effective post-operative management. The candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, participate in emergency care, and maintain accurate clinical documentation. This position requires strong clinical knowledge, hands-on surgical experience, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Assist in and perform a variety of general surgical procedures under supervision or independently as per experience.
• Evaluate patients, take detailed medical histories, and conduct physical examinations.
• Assess surgical cases and contribute to diagnosis and treatment planning.
• Conduct pre-operative assessments and ensure patient readiness for surgery.
• Obtain informed consent and explain procedures, risks, and recovery plans to patients.
• Provide intra-operative support and ensure adherence to surgical protocols.
• Manage post-operative care, monitor recovery, and handle complications if any.
• Participate actively in emergency surgical cases and trauma management.
• Coordinate with anesthesiologists, nursing staff, and other departments for smooth surgical workflow.
• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, operative notes, and discharge summaries.
• Conduct regular ward rounds and monitor patient progress.
• Ensure compliance with infection control practices and safety standards in OT and wards.
• Assist in clinical audits, case reviews, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Guide and supervise junior residents, interns, and medical staff.
• Participate in academic activities, teaching sessions, and clinical discussions.
