Job Description
The Infection Control Nurse will be responsible for monitoring infection prevention practices, conducting surveillance, implementing infection control protocols, training staff, and supporting hospital quality and safety standards. This requires nursing knowledge, infection control expertise, audit skills, documentation discipline, and coordination with clinical and non-clinical departments. The candidate will help reduce healthcare-associated infections and promote a safe hospital environment.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Monitor infection prevention and control practices across hospital departments.
- Conduct routine infection control rounds in wards, ICU, OT, emergency, and support areas.
- Track healthcare-associated infections and maintain infection surveillance records.
- Ensure compliance with hand hygiene, PPE usage, isolation precautions, and biomedical waste guidelines.
- Train doctors, nurses, housekeeping, technicians, and support staff on infection control practices.
- Support implementation of hospital infection control policies, SOPs, and safety protocols.
- Monitor sterilization, disinfection, cleaning practices, and high-risk area hygiene standards.
- Coordinate with microbiology, nursing, quality, housekeeping, CSSD, and clinical teams.
- Investigate infection trends, outbreaks, needle-stick injuries, and infection-related incidents.
- Prepare infection control reports, audit findings, compliance trackers, and corrective action plans.
- Ensure proper management of isolation cases and infection-risk patients.
- Participate in hospital infection control committee meetings and quality improvement activities.
- Support NABH, internal audits, and regulatory compliance related to infection prevention.
- Promote awareness on antimicrobial stewardship, safe injection practices, and patient safety.
- Maintain accurate documentation and follow-up of infection control observations and actions.
