Senior Speech Therapist

The Senior Speech Therapist will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with speech, language, voice, swallowing, and communication disorders. This requires strong clinical expertise in speech therapy, rehabilitation planning, patient counselling, documentation, and multidisciplinary coordination. The candidate will guide therapy programs, monitor patient progress, support junior therapists, and help patients improve communication, swallowing safety, confidence, and quality of life.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients with speech, language, voice, swallowing, fluency, and communication difficulties.
• Conduct detailed speech and language evaluations using appropriate clinical assessment methods.
• Develop individualized therapy plans based on diagnosis, patient age, condition, and rehabilitation goals.
• Provide speech therapy sessions for pediatric, neurological, post-stroke, post-surgical, and rehabilitation patients.
• Manage swallowing difficulties and support dysphagia assessment, therapy, and safety education.
• Monitor patient progress regularly and modify therapy plans according to clinical improvement.
• Counsel patients and families regarding therapy goals, home exercises, communication strategies, and care support.
• Coordinate with rehabilitation physicians, neurologists, ENT specialists, pediatricians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and nurses.
• Maintain accurate assessment reports, therapy notes, progress records, and discharge recommendations.
• Guide junior speech therapists, interns, or therapy assistants in clinical practice and documentation.
• Support development of therapy protocols, patient education material, and rehabilitation programs.
• Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions, rehabilitation planning, and patient review meetings.
• Ensure safe, ethical, confidential, and patient-centered speech therapy care.
• Maintain therapy equipment, assessment tools, and department records in proper condition.
• Promote functional communication, swallowing safety, patient confidence, and improved quality of life.
