Job Description

The Technical Officer - Nuclear Medicine will be responsible for supporting nuclear medicine diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, patient preparation, radiopharmaceutical handling, imaging equipment operation, documentation, and radiation safety compliance. This requires technical knowledge of nuclear medicine workflow, patient care, radiation protection, equipment handling, and coordination with nuclear medicine physicians, nurses, and hospital teams to ensure safe, accurate, and timely services.


Roles & Responsibilities

  • Assist in nuclear medicine imaging, diagnostic procedures, and therapy-related support activities.
  • Prepare patients for nuclear medicine scans and explain basic procedure instructions clearly.
  • Support safe handling, preparation, and administration coordination of radiopharmaceuticals under supervision.
  • Operate nuclear medicine imaging equipment as per approved departmental protocols.
  • Ensure correct patient identification, procedure verification, and documentation before starting scans.
  • Maintain patient records, dose records, procedure logs, and department documentation accurately.
  • Follow radiation safety guidelines for patients, staff, attendants, and department areas.
  • Coordinate with nuclear medicine physicians for scan planning, procedure flow, and reporting support.
  • Monitor patient comfort and safety during imaging or nuclear medicine procedures.
  • Maintain cleanliness, discipline, and readiness of imaging rooms and technical work areas.
  • Support equipment quality checks, calibration coordination, and basic troubleshooting when required.
  • Report equipment issues, radiation safety concerns, or procedure delays to senior staff immediately.
  • Ensure proper storage, labeling, handling, and disposal support for radioactive materials as per protocol.
  • Follow infection control, PPE, biomedical waste, and hospital patient safety standards.
  • Maintain professional communication with patients, relatives, doctors, nurses, and technical teams.
