Job Description
Hospital Pharmacist is responsible for ensuring safe, effective, and accurate dispensing of medications within the hospital. The involves managing pharmacy operations, reviewing prescriptions, maintaining drug inventory, counseling patients, and coordinating with healthcare professionals to ensure optimal pharmaceutical care.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Dispense medications accurately as per doctor prescriptions and hospital guidelines.
- Review prescriptions for dosage accuracy, drug interactions, and contraindications.
- Provide patient counseling on medication usage, dosage, side effects, and storage.
- Maintain stock of medicines, surgical items, and pharmaceutical consumables.
- Monitor expiry dates and ensure proper storage and rotation of inventory.
- Coordinate with doctors and nursing staff for medication requirements and availability.
- Maintain accurate pharmacy records, billing entries, and dispensing logs.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, pharmacy regulations, and safety standards.
- Handle inpatient and outpatient pharmacy dispensing operations efficiently.
- Assist in procurement and ordering of medicines based on consumption patterns.
- Conduct regular stock audits and support inventory reconciliation activities.
- Ensure proper storage conditions for temperature-sensitive and critical drugs.
- Manage pharmacy software entries and daily reporting activities.
- Support emergency medication dispensing and critical care requirements.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and discipline within the pharmacy area.
- Perform additional pharmacy and patient care responsibilities assigned by management or supervisors.
