Labour Ward Staff Nurse

The Labour Ward Staff Nurse will provide maternal care, labour room support, delivery assistance, fetal monitoring, emergency obstetric coordination, documentation, and compassionate patient support at Bhaskaran Hospital, Kallakurichi. This requires GNM or B.Sc Nursing qualification and labour ward patient care skills.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to antenatal, intranatal, and postnatal patients in the labour ward.
• Monitor maternal vitals, fetal heart rate, contractions, pain, bleeding, and labour progress.
• Assist doctors during normal delivery, emergency obstetric care, procedures, and examinations.
• Prepare labour room, delivery trays, instruments, medicines, oxygen, suction, and emergency items.
• Maintain partograph, nursing notes, medication records, labour records, and handover documentation.
• Support newborn care, immediate baby assessment, breastfeeding support, and mother counselling under guidance.
• Coordinate with obstetricians, pediatricians, OT, NICU, laboratory, blood bank, and pharmacy teams.
• Identify high-risk signs and report complications to doctors promptly.
• Follow infection control, sterile technique, PPE, biomedical waste, and patient safety standards.
• Maintain patient privacy, dignity, comfort, and emotional support during labour.
• Support admission, transfer, discharge, and post-delivery care coordination.
• Deliver safe, respectful, and compassionate maternal nursing care.
