Job Description
The Junior Resident will be responsible for supporting patient care, clinical assessment, ward duties, emergency management, documentation, and consultant assistance in a hospital or teaching medical institution. This requires MBBS qualification, strong clinical basics, discipline, patient care commitment, and willingness to work under senior doctors. The candidate will assist in OPD, IPD, emergency, rounds, procedures, and academic clinical activities while ensuring safe and ethical patient care.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Attend OPD, IPD, emergency, ward, and assigned clinical department patients.
- Take patient history, record symptoms, and perform basic clinical examination.
- Assist senior residents, consultants, and faculty during rounds and patient care activities.
- Monitor admitted patients, vital signs, investigation reports, and treatment response.
- Write progress notes, treatment orders, prescriptions, handover notes, and discharge documentation under supervision.
- Support admission, transfer, referral, discharge, and emergency patient coordination.
- Respond to emergency calls and assist in patient stabilization as per hospital protocol.
- Coordinate with nurses, laboratory, radiology, pharmacy, OT, ICU, and administration teams.
- Assist in minor procedures, dressings, sample collection support, and clinical interventions as instructed.
- Review lab reports, imaging findings, ECG, and other diagnostic reports under senior guidance.
- Counsel patients and relatives regarding care process under consultant supervision.
- Maintain accurate case sheets, consent forms, clinical records, and departmental documentation.
- Participate in case presentations, academic rounds, seminars, journal clubs, and clinical discussions.
- Follow infection control, patient safety, confidentiality, and ethical medical practice standards.
- Escalate critical changes, abnormal findings, or complications to senior doctors immediately.
