The Lab Technician will be responsible for sample collection, processing, laboratory testing, analyzer operation, reporting support, and maintaining quality standards in the hospital laboratory. This requires DMLT or B.Sc DMLT qualification, knowledge of hematology, biochemistry, clinical pathology, sample handling, equipment maintenance, and documentation. The candidate will ensure accurate testing, timely reporting, patient safety, and compliance with laboratory protocols.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Collect, receive, label, and process blood, urine, and other laboratory samples accurately.
- Perform routine laboratory tests in hematology, biochemistry, clinical pathology, and related areas.
- Operate laboratory analyzers, microscopes, centrifuges, and other diagnostic equipment.
- Verify sample quality, patient details, test requirements, and labeling accuracy.
- Prepare reagents, controls, slides, and testing materials as per laboratory procedure.
- Maintain sample registers, test records, equipment logs, and quality control documentation.
- Report critical values, abnormal findings, sample errors, or test delays to seniors promptly.
- Follow laboratory safety, infection control, biomedical waste, and PPE requirements.
- Support calibration, internal quality control, external quality assurance, and maintenance activities.
- Maintain cleanliness and proper arrangement of laboratory workstations and equipment.
- Coordinate with doctors, nurses, sample collection staff, and reporting teams.
- Ensure timely processing and accurate reporting support for patient investigations.
- Handle laboratory consumables, reagents, and stock responsibly.
- Follow confidentiality and data integrity standards for patient reports.
- Support smooth and reliable functioning of hospital laboratory services.
