Job Description

Fortis Healthcare Limited is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Associate Consultant – Cardiac Anaesthesia to provide specialized anesthesia care for cardiac and cardiothoracic procedures. The involves managing high-risk patients, ensuring perioperative stability, and working closely with cardiac surgeons, perfusionists, and critical care teams to deliver optimal patient outcomes.


Roles & Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive pre-anesthetic evaluations for cardiac surgery patients.
  • Assess cardiac risk factors and optimize patients prior to surgery.
  • Develop and implement anesthesia plans tailored for cardiothoracic procedures.
  • Administer and manage general anesthesia for cardiac and vascular surgeries.
  • Monitor advanced hemodynamic parameters using invasive and non-invasive techniques.
  • Manage intraoperative cardiac function, fluid balance, and pharmacological support.
  • Assist in procedures involving cardiopulmonary bypass and coordinate with perfusionists.
  • Perform advanced airway management and ventilatory support.
  • Provide anesthesia support for procedures like CABG, valve replacements, and other cardiac surgeries.
  • Ensure safe induction, maintenance, and smooth recovery from anesthesia.
  • Manage post-operative pain and critical care support in cardiac ICU.
  • Respond promptly to intraoperative emergencies and complications.
  • Maintain accurate anesthesia records and documentation.
  • Ensure readiness and proper functioning of anesthesia equipment and monitoring devices.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, intensivists, and OT staff for seamless surgical workflow.
  • Supervise and guide junior anesthetists and OT personnel.
  • Ensure adherence to infection control, safety protocols, and NABH standards.
  • Participate in cardiac ICU rounds and multidisciplinary discussions.
  • Stay updated with advancements in cardiac anesthesia and perioperative care.
  • Contribute to clinical audits, research, and quality improvement initiatives.
