Job Description
The Pharmacist will oversee the dispensing of medications, review prescriptions, and ensure safe and accurate delivery of pharmaceutical services. This requires strong knowledge of drugs, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Review and verify prescriptions for accuracy, dosage, and drug interactions.
- Dispense medicines safely and efficiently as per doctor’s prescription.
- Provide patient counseling on medication usage, dosage, and precautions.
- Ensure compliance with pharmacy regulations, SOPs, and safety standards.
- Maintain proper storage conditions for medicines as per guidelines.
- Monitor stock levels and ensure availability of essential drugs.
- Track expiry dates and manage inventory using FIFO/FEFO methods.
- Handle controlled and narcotic drugs as per legal requirements and maintain records.
- Coordinate with doctors and healthcare staff for prescription clarifications.
- Maintain accurate records of dispensing, billing, and stock.
- Prepare purchase orders and coordinate procurement of medicines.
- Process returns of expired or damaged medicines.
- Ensure proper labeling and packaging of medications.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the pharmacy area.
- Participate in stock audits and inventory verification.
- Use ERP or pharmacy management systems for data entry and reporting.
- Ensure confidentiality of patient and prescription information.
- Follow infection control and safety protocols.
- Assist in emergency medication requirements when needed.
- Support compliance with NABH and regulatory standards.
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for timely procurement.
- Handle patient queries and provide professional assistance.
- Work efficiently in shifts and manage workload effectively.
- Stay updated with new medicines and pharmaceutical practices.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams for effective patient care.
- Maintain professionalism and ethical standards at all times.
