Job Description
The Consultant – General Medicine will be responsible for diagnosing, treating, and managing a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions across outpatient and inpatient settings. The involves conducting detailed clinical evaluations, interpreting diagnostic reports, and developing evidence-based treatment plans. The candidate will collaborate with specialists and multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic patient care, handle complex cases, and guide junior medical staff. Maintaining accurate documentation, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols, and delivering high standards of patient safety are key aspects of this.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and manage a wide range of medical conditions including infectious diseases, chronic illnesses, and lifestyle disorders.
- Conduct thorough patient evaluations including history taking, physical examinations, and clinical assessments.
- Interpret diagnostic tests such as laboratory reports, imaging, and other investigations.
- Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans.
- Provide care across OPD, IPD, and emergency settings.
- Manage and stabilize critically ill patients and handle medical emergencies effectively.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
- Coordinate with specialists for multidisciplinary case management and referrals.
- Conduct regular ward rounds and ensure continuity of care.
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, and preventive healthcare.
- Prescribe medications in accordance with clinical guidelines and ethical standards.
- Maintain accurate, detailed, and timely medical records and documentation.
- Ensure adherence to hospital protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in clinical audits, case reviews, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Guide, mentor, and supervise junior doctors, interns, and medical staff.
