EEG and NCV Technician

The EEG and NCV Technician will play a critical in the neurodiagnostic department by preparing patients, operating specialized diagnostic equipment, and recording accurate test results for clinical interpretation. This requires strong technical expertise, patient-handling skills, and attention to detail. The candidate must ensure proper maintenance of equipment, accurate documentation, and compliance with hospital safety and quality standards.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Perform EEG (Electroencephalography) and NCV (Nerve Conduction Velocity) tests as prescribed by neurologists.
• Prepare patients for procedures by explaining the process and ensuring comfort.
• Attach electrodes and sensors accurately according to standard protocols.
• Operate EEG, EMG, and NCV equipment efficiently and safely.
• Monitor patient condition during procedures and report abnormalities immediately.
• Record and maintain accurate neurodiagnostic data and test results.
• Assist neurologists during advanced neurodiagnostic procedures when required.
• Ensure proper calibration, cleaning, and maintenance of diagnostic equipment.
• Maintain infection control and aseptic practices during all procedures.
• Ensure accurate labeling and documentation of reports and patient information.
• Handle emergency situations calmly during testing procedures if required.
• Maintain confidentiality and privacy of patient medical information.
• Coordinate with doctors, nursing staff, and other departments for smooth patient flow.
• Maintain inventory of consumables and ensure availability of required supplies.
• Troubleshoot minor technical issues and report major equipment faults promptly.
• Follow NABH standards, departmental SOPs, and hospital policies.
• Ensure patient safety and comfort throughout the diagnostic process.
• Prepare procedure rooms and equipment before and after tests.
• Assist in scheduling and managing patient appointments efficiently.
• Participate in audits, quality improvement, and training programs.
• Maintain accurate logs, registers, and technical documentation.
• Ensure biomedical waste disposal as per protocols.
• Educate patients and attendants regarding pre-test and post-test instructions.
• Work efficiently in rotational shifts and emergency situations if required.
• Stay updated with advancements in neurodiagnostic technology and procedures.
• Demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and strong communication skills.
• Ensure timely completion and reporting of diagnostic procedures.
