Physician Assistant - General Surgery

The Physician Assistant - General Surgery will support general surgery patient care, surgical coordination, patient monitoring, nursing-based clinical support, medical record management, and consultant assistance at Apollo Hospitals, Hyderabad. This requires Graduate Nursing, GNM, or B.Sc Nursing qualification with 5–10 years of experience in general surgery, nursing, registered nurse work, patient care, medical records, and relationship management.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist general surgeons in OPD, IPD, ward, OT, emergency, and post-operative care coordination.
• Take patient history, support clinical examination, and prepare patients for surgical review.
• Assist with pre-operative preparation, report collection, consent coordination, and surgical readiness.
• Monitor post-operative patients for vitals, pain, wound condition, bleeding, drains, and recovery progress.
• Maintain surgical patient records, progress notes, procedure details, nursing documentation, and discharge coordination.
• Coordinate with OT, anaesthesia, ICU, nursing, laboratory, radiology, pharmacy, and billing teams.
• Support dressing, wound care coordination, drain monitoring, patient education, and follow-up instructions.
• Report complications, abnormal vitals, pain, fever, infection signs, or clinical concerns promptly.
• Communicate respectfully with patients and attendants regarding process flow under senior guidance.
• Support relationship management through timely updates and patient-friendly coordination.
• Follow surgical safety, infection control, patient privacy, and documentation standards.
• Ensure safe, organized, and consultant-led general surgery support.
