Job Description

Fortis Healthcare Limited is seeking a dedicated and skilled Senior Resident – Pulmonology to support the diagnosis, treatment, and management of respiratory and pulmonary disorders. The involves assisting consultants, managing inpatient and outpatient cases, and ensuring high standards of respiratory care.


Roles & Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with respiratory and pulmonary conditions.
  • Conduct detailed clinical assessments and physical examinations.
  • Assist consultants in OPD, IPD, and emergency pulmonology cases.
  • Manage conditions such as asthma, COPD, pneumonia, tuberculosis, and interstitial lung diseases.
  • Interpret pulmonary function tests (PFTs), imaging, and laboratory investigations.
  • Assist in and perform procedures such as bronchoscopy, pleural tapping, and chest tube insertion (as per experience).
  • Monitor patients requiring oxygen therapy, ventilatory support, and critical care.
  • Participate in ward rounds and multidisciplinary case discussions.
  • Provide pre-procedure and post-procedure patient care.
  • Maintain accurate and complete patient records and clinical documentation.
  • Coordinate with ICU teams, physicians, and other specialists for patient care.
  • Respond promptly to respiratory emergencies and critical situations.
  • Counsel patients and families on disease management, lifestyle changes, and smoking cessation.
  • Ensure adherence to hospital protocols, infection control, and safety guidelines.
  • Assist in discharge planning and preparation of discharge summaries.
  • Supervise junior residents, interns, and nursing staff when required.
  • Participate in clinical audits, academic sessions, and research activities.
  • Stay updated with advancements in pulmonology and respiratory care.
  • Ensure compliance with NABH standards and hospital policies.
  • Maintain professionalism, ethics, and patient confidentiality at all times.
