Senior Registrar Gastroenterology

Fortis Healthcare Limited is seeking a dedicated and skilled Senior Registrar – Gastroenterology to support advanced gastrointestinal care, assist in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, and ensure high standards of patient management. The involves working closely with consultants, managing inpatient and outpatient cases, and contributing to clinical excellence in gastroenterology services.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary disorders.
• Assist consultants in OPD, IPD, and emergency gastroenterology cases.
• Perform and assist in procedures such as endoscopy, colonoscopy, and sigmoidoscopy.
• Monitor patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic GI procedures.
• Manage pre-procedure and post-procedure patient care.
• Handle emergency cases such as GI bleeding, acute abdomen, and liver complications.
• Interpret laboratory investigations, imaging, and endoscopy findings.
• Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation and case records.
• Participate in ward rounds and multidisciplinary case discussions.
• Coordinate with nursing staff and other departments for patient care.
• Provide patient and family counseling regarding diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up.
• Ensure adherence to hospital protocols, infection control, and safety standards.
• Assist in discharge planning and preparation of discharge summaries.
• Supervise and guide junior doctors and interns where required.
• Participate in clinical audits, research, and academic activities.
• Stay updated with advancements in gastroenterology and clinical practices.
• Ensure compliance with NABH standards and hospital policies.
• Respond promptly to emergencies and provide timely clinical interventions.
• Support quality improvement initiatives within the department.
• Maintain professionalism, ethics, and patient confidentiality at all times.
