Job Description

Fortis Healthcare Limited is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Senior Registrar – Critical Care to provide advanced medical care to critically ill patients, support ICU operations, and ensure high standards of clinical excellence. The involves managing complex cases, assisting intensivists, and delivering timely interventions in emergency and life-threatening situations.


Roles & Responsibilities

  • Assess, diagnose, and manage critically ill patients in the ICU and high-dependency units.
  • Monitor patient vitals, laboratory parameters, and clinical status continuously.
  • Assist intensivists in managing patients requiring ventilatory and life-support systems.
  • Perform emergency procedures such as intubation, central line insertion, and arterial line placement.
  • Manage ventilators, infusion pumps, and other critical care equipment effectively.
  • Participate in ICU rounds and multidisciplinary case discussions.
  • Develop and implement patient-specific treatment plans under supervision.
  • Respond promptly to medical emergencies and code blue situations.
  • Ensure safe transfer of critically ill patients within and outside the hospital.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records and ICU documentation.
  • Coordinate with nursing staff and other departments for comprehensive patient care.
  • Communicate effectively with patients’ families regarding clinical status and treatment plans.
  • Ensure adherence to infection control protocols and ICU safety standards.
  • Assist in weaning patients from ventilators and life-support systems.
  • Participate in clinical audits, morbidity and mortality meetings.
  • Supervise and guide junior doctors, interns, and nursing staff.
  • Ensure compliance with NABH standards and hospital policies.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives in critical care services.
  • Stay updated with advancements in critical care medicine and ICU practices.
  • Maintain high standards of professionalism, ethics, and patient confidentiality.
