Respiratory Therapist - Respiratory Medicine

The Respiratory Therapist will assist doctors, pulmonologists, intensivists, and nursing teams in managing patients with respiratory illness, oxygen requirement, ventilator support, and critical care needs. This requires technical knowledge, patient monitoring skills, emergency readiness, and coordination with ICU, emergency, ward, and respiratory medicine teams.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess respiratory status, oxygen requirement, breathing pattern, and patient comfort.
• Support oxygen therapy, nebulization, airway care, suctioning, and respiratory procedures.
• Assist in ventilator setup, monitoring, and respiratory support under clinical guidance.
• Coordinate with pulmonology, ICU, emergency, nursing, and respiratory medicine teams.
• Monitor patients with respiratory distress, critical illness, pulmonary disease, or post-operative respiratory needs.
• Maintain respiratory therapy notes, equipment logs, patient records, and procedure documentation.
• Check oxygen supply, respiratory equipment, circuits, masks, humidifiers, and emergency materials.
• Report abnormal breathing patterns, desaturation, equipment issues, or patient deterioration promptly.
• Follow infection control, PPE, biomedical waste, and respiratory safety protocols.
• Educate patients on breathing exercises, inhaler use, and respiratory care under guidance.
• Support critical care and ward-based respiratory management.
• Deliver safe, timely, and patient-centered respiratory therapy support.
