Job Description
The Night Duty Nurse will be responsible for monitoring patients during night hours, administering medications, responding to emergencies, and maintaining accurate shift documentation. The requires strong clinical skills, quick decision-making ability, and readiness to handle critical situations independently while ensuring continuity of patient care.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Monitor patient condition continuously during night shifts.
- Administer medications, injections, and IV fluids as per schedule.
- Respond promptly to medical emergencies and assist in critical care situations.
- Coordinate emergency response and inform doctors on duty immediately.
- Maintain accurate and detailed night shift nursing reports.
- Observe and record vital signs and report any abnormalities.
- Assist in emergency procedures and life-saving interventions when required.
- Ensure proper handover at the beginning and end of shifts.
- Maintain patient safety, comfort, and hygiene during night hours.
- Ensure adherence to hospital protocols, nursing standards, and safety guidelines.
- Handle admission, transfer, and discharge-related tasks during night shifts.
- Assist in sample collection and diagnostic procedures if required.
- Maintain proper documentation of all nursing activities.
- Monitor ICU/ward patients closely and escalate critical changes immediately.
- Ensure proper functioning and availability of medical equipment.
- Maintain infection control practices throughout the shift.
- Coordinate with doctors, residents, and other healthcare staff on duty.
- Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients and attendants.
- Manage workload efficiently in high-pressure and emergency situations.
- Ensure confidentiality, professionalism, and patient-centered care at all times.
