Microbiologist

The Microbiologist will be responsible for performing microbiological testing, environmental monitoring, sample analysis, documentation, and contamination control activities in a laboratory or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. This requires knowledge of microbiology methods, GLP, GMP, sterile practices, and laboratory safety. The candidate will ensure accurate testing, timely reporting, proper documentation, and compliance with approved quality standards and regulatory requirements.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform microbiological testing of raw materials, finished products, water, and environmental samples.
• Conduct microbial limit tests, bioburden testing, pathogen testing, and related microbiology analysis.
• Prepare culture media, reagents, stains, and microbiology testing materials as per SOPs.
• Support environmental monitoring activities including air, surface, personnel, and area monitoring.
• Operate microbiology equipment such as autoclaves, incubators, laminar airflow units, and colony counters.
• Maintain accurate worksheets, logbooks, raw data, test reports, and laboratory records.
• Follow GMP, GLP, data integrity, biosafety, and contamination control requirements.
• Ensure proper sample receipt, labeling, storage, testing, and disposal procedures.
• Monitor laboratory cleanliness, sterilization practices, and microbial contamination risks.
• Report abnormal results, out-of-specification findings, and deviations to senior personnel.
• Coordinate with QA, production, warehouse, and QC teams for sample testing and release activities.
• Support calibration, qualification, and routine maintenance of microbiology laboratory equipment.
• Maintain inventory of media, cultures, reagents, glassware, and laboratory consumables.
• Participate in audits, inspection readiness, and microbiology compliance reviews.
• Prepare timely microbiology reports while maintaining accuracy and regulatory compliance.
