CSSD Technician

The CSSD Technician will be responsible for cleaning, decontaminating, packing, sterilizing, storing, and issuing surgical instruments and medical equipment. This requires relevant qualification, knowledge of sterilization procedures, instrument handling, infection control, documentation, and coordination with OT, ICU, wards, and hospital departments. The candidate will ensure timely and safe availability of sterile instruments for clinical use.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Receive used instruments and equipment from OT, ICU, wards, and departments.
• Clean, wash, disinfect, inspect, pack, and sterilize instruments as per CSSD SOP.
• Operate autoclaves, sterilizers, washer disinfectors, sealing machines, and CSSD equipment.
• Prepare surgical trays, procedure kits, linen packs, and sterile supply sets accurately.
• Maintain sterilization logs, batch records, expiry dates, indicators, and issue registers.
• Check instruments for damage, rust, sharpness, missing parts, and functionality.
• Issue sterile instruments and materials to OT and departments as per requirement.
• Follow infection control, PPE, biomedical waste, and safe handling protocols.
• Maintain clean, dirty, and sterile zone separation inside CSSD.
• Report sterilization failure, equipment issues, shortages, or damaged instruments to seniors.
• Coordinate with OT nurses, CSSD in-charge, biomedical, and stores teams.
• Maintain cleanliness, discipline, and proper arrangement in CSSD work areas.
• Support emergency sterile supply requirements during urgent surgeries.
• Participate in stock verification, audits, and quality checks.
• Ensure safe and timely sterile supply support for patient care.
