Staff Nurse (OT)

The Staff Nurse (OT) will be responsible for pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative patient care within the operation theatre. This requires strong clinical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a high-pressure surgical environment.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Prepare the operation theatre for surgical procedures, ensuring all instruments and equipment are sterilized and ready.
• Assist surgeons, anesthetists, and surgical teams during operations.
• Maintain strict aseptic and sterile techniques throughout procedures.
• Verify patiententity, surgical site, and procedure as per safety protocols.
• Provide pre-operative care including patient preparation and positioning.
• Monitor patient condition during surgery and assist in emergency situations.
• Handle surgical instruments and ensure correct counts before and after procedures.
• Manage post-operative care and transfer of patients to recovery areas.
• Ensure proper functioning and maintenance of OT equipment.
• Maintain accurate documentation of surgical procedures and nursing care.
• Follow infection control, sterilization, and biomedical waste management protocols.
• Coordinate with CSSD for instrument sterilization and availability.
• Assist in anesthesia procedures and patient monitoring when required.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the OT environment.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, NABH standards, and safety guidelines.
• Participate in surgical safety checklists and time-out procedures.
• Support emergency and critical surgeries as required.
• Work in rotational shifts including nights, weekends, and on-call duties.
• Communicate effectively with surgical teams and support staff.
• Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients and families.
• Participate in training, audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical standards.
