Job Description
The Consultant – Urology will diagnose and manage a wide range of urological conditions, perform surgical procedures, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for comprehensive patient care. This requires strong clinical expertise, surgical skills, and a commitment to excellence.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and treat urological conditions such as kidney stones, urinary tract infections, prostate disorders, and cancers.
- Perform urological surgeries including endoscopic, laparoscopic, and open procedures.
- Conduct procedures such as cystoscopy, ureteroscopy, TURP, and lithotripsy.
- Evaluate patients using diagnostic tests such as ultrasound, CT scans, and urodynamic studies.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient condition and clinical findings.
- Manage urological emergencies including acute urinary retention and renal colic.
- Provide pre-operative assessment and post-operative care.
- Collaborate with nephrologists, oncologists, and other specialists for integrated care.
- Maintain accurate patient records, surgical notes, and treatment documentation.
- Counsel patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, and recovery plans.
- Ensure adherence to clinical protocols, safety standards, and regulatory guidelines.
- Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions and clinical review meetings.
- Supervise junior doctors, residents, and support staff.
- Ensure proper functioning and maintenance of urology equipment.
- Stay updated with advancements in urology techniques and technologies.
- Support clinical audits, research activities, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain infection control and patient safety standards.
- Handle OPD, IPD, and emergency urology cases efficiently.
- Coordinate with nursing and allied healthcare teams for smooth patient care.
- Ensure ethical practices, patient confidentiality, and informed consent.
- Contribute to patient education and awareness programs.
- Work collaboratively with hospital departments for seamless service delivery.
- Deliver high standards of clinical excellence and patient outcomes.
