Grossing Dr. (Histopathology)

The involves specimen handling, detailed documentation, collaboration with pathologists, adherence to quality and safety standards, and maintaining laboratory efficiency while supporting accurate diagnostic outcomes.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Receive, verify, and accession surgical specimens ensuring proper labeling andentification.
• Perform detailed gross examination of specimens including measurement, weight, and morphological description.
• Dissect and prepare tissue sections as per standard grossing protocols.
• Ensure proper fixation, preservation, and processing of tissue samples for histopathological evaluation.
• Accurately document gross findings, observations, and specimen details in pathology reports.
• Collaborate with pathologists to select appropriate tissue sections for microscopic examination.
• Maintain traceability and proper tracking of specimens throughout the grossing workflow.
• Ensure compliance with laboratory SOPs, quality standards, and regulatory guidelines.
• Follow strict biosafety and infection control protocols to prevent contamination.
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety of the grossing area.
• entify discrepancies, unusual findings, or abnormalities and escalate to supervising pathologists.
• Coordinate with laboratory technicians and other departments for smooth workflow.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment such as microtomes, tissue processors, and grossing stations.
• Perform routine checks, calibration, and troubleshooting of equipment.
• Coordinate with maintenance teams for repair and servicing of laboratory instruments.
• Ensure adherence to quality control measures for accurate diagnostic outcomes.
• Support audit processes and maintain proper documentation for inspections.
• Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams for timely reporting.
