NICU Staff Nurse

The NICU Staff Nurse will be responsible for providing specialized nursing care to newborns, premature babies, and critically ill neonates in the neonatal intensive care unit. This requires GNM or B.Sc Nursing qualification, NICU care knowledge, infection control awareness, patient monitoring skills, and compassionate communication with parents. The candidate will support safe neonatal care under pediatric and neonatology guidance.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to neonates admitted in NICU.
• Monitor vital signs, oxygen saturation, feeding, temperature, and clinical condition.
• Assist doctors during neonatal rounds, procedures, resuscitation, and emergency care.
• Administer medicines, IV fluids, oxygen, and feeds as prescribed.
• Maintain incubator, warmer, phototherapy, oxygen, and monitoring equipment readiness.
• Follow strict infection control, hand hygiene, and NICU safety protocols.
• Maintain nursing notes, medication charts, intake-output records, and handover sheets.
• Support neonatal sample collection, investigation coordination, and report follow-up.
• Educate parents on breastfeeding, hygiene, baby care, and discharge instructions.
• Identify clinical deterioration and inform doctors immediately.
• Coordinate with pediatricians, neonatologists, lab, pharmacy, and ward teams.
• Deliver safe, gentle, and family-centered neonatal nursing care.
