Sikhs usually pick names derived from the Guru Granth Sahib for their children. In the naming ceremony, a passage or ‘Hukam’ is read out from the Holy book of Sikhs and the first letter of the first word from the Hukam is picked for the initial of the child’s name. This is how Sikh religion baby names are choosed.

Most Sikh names are unisex. Mostly male or female Sikh names are differentiated based on usage or popularity rather than any fixed naming convention.  Even though Singh is the most common last name, many other Sikh last names are also quite popular, like Kaur, Arora, Anand, Bajaj, etc. What matters the most is that your baby's first name should not only be meaningful and sonorous but should also complement his or her last name.

Unlike other religions and cultures, Hindu baby names and even the naming ceremony are given immense importance in Sanatana Dharma. The priest takes several things into consideration like the name of the ancestors, the stars of the child, and the deities before zeroing in on the name of the child. In fact, the search begins right after the birth of the child.

Buddhist baby names create a positive first impression on people new to them. The peaceful and enlightened sound of these names makes the bearers look seemingly amiable, relaxed, and approachable. These names aren’t entirely traditional. They just give cues to the virtues and goals that the bearer and his/her parents aspire to.

Christian uses Biblical baby names for boys and girls to draw inspiration from some of the Bible’s most prominent figures. There are plenty of classical names from both the Old Testament and the New Testament, along with unique names that have special meanings for Christians. Many of these names have Hebrew origins, which is especially significant if your family is Jewish.

The Muslim baby naming ceremony is called Tasmiyah. A baby is usually named before or on the seventh day after his birth. Often, Aqeeqah (shaving of the baby's head and animal sacrifice) is also done on that day. To celebrate the occasion, silver or gold equal to the weight of the baby's hair is given as charity.

Normally blessing is given to the child by the Church after prayers will give eight days after their birth to name a child, children are called for the first time with their personal names
