Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) is associated with various antibodies, including anti-GQ1b antibodies and anti-ganglioside antibodies. However, the presence of anti-GQ1b antibodies is more specific to Miller Fisher syndrome, a variant of GBS. In GBS, the most commonly detected antibodies are directed against gangliosides, particularly GM1, GM1b, and GD1a gangliosides. These antibodies play a role in the autoimmune attack on peripheral nerves, contributing to the development of GBS. Detection of these antibodies is helpful in diagnosing GBS.
