NICU Nursing Officer

The NICU Nursing Officer will be responsible for providing specialized nursing care to newborns and critically ill neonates in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. This involves continuous monitoring, medication administration, feeding support, infection prevention, emergency care assistance, and coordination with neonatologists and pediatric teams. The candidate should have strong neonatal nursing knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to deliver safe, compassionate, and family-centered care.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide specialized nursing care to neonates admitted in the NICU.
• Monitor vital signs, oxygen saturation, temperature, feeding tolerance, and clinical condition regularly.
• Assist neonatologists and pediatricians during rounds, procedures, and emergency care.
• Administer medicines, IV fluids, injections, and prescribed treatments safely and accurately.
• Support neonatal feeding, breastfeeding guidance, tube feeding, and nutritional care as instructed.
• Maintain accurate NICU charts, medication records, intake-output records, and nursing documentation.
• Monitor incubators, warmers, phototherapy units, oxygen support, and neonatal equipment.
• Identify signs of neonatal distress or deterioration and report immediately to senior clinical staff.
• Follow strict infection control, hand hygiene, PPE, and biomedical waste management practices.
• Assist in neonatal resuscitation, emergency stabilization, and critical care support when required.
• Coordinate with laboratory, pharmacy, blood bank, radiology, and other hospital departments for patient care.
• Educate parents regarding baby care, hygiene, feeding, and discharge instructions as per hospital policy.
• Ensure availability of emergency medicines, consumables, and NICU supplies during duty.
• Maintain cleanliness, safety, and discipline within the NICU environment.
• Promote patient safety, compassionate care, and high standards of neonatal nursing practice.
