Job Description
The Pathologist will be responsible for examining and interpreting laboratory tests related to blood, tissues, and body fluids to diagnose diseases and guide treatment decisions. This requires strong analytical skills, medical expertise, and adherence to quality and regulatory standards in a laboratory setting.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Examine and interpret laboratory test results including hematology, biochemistry, microbiology, and histopathology.
- Analyze blood samples, tissue specimens, and other body fluids to diagnose diseases.
- Validate and authorize laboratory reports ensuring accuracy and reliability.
- Supervise laboratory operations and ensure smooth workflow across departments.
- Ensure adherence to quality standards, SOPs, and regulatory guidelines (NABL, ISO, etc.).
- Collaborate with clinicians and healthcare professionals for accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Oversee quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) processes in the laboratory.
- Investigate abnormal test results and provide expert opinions.
- Ensure proper handling, processing, and storage of samples.
- Monitor and maintain laboratory equipment in coordination with technical teams.
- Participate in internal and external quality assurance programs.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of test results and reports.
- Train and guide laboratory technicians and junior staff.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and biomedical waste management guidelines.
- Handle critical and urgent cases with timely reporting.
- Participate in clinical audits, research, and academic activities.
- Stay updated with advancements in pathology and diagnostic technologies.
- Ensure confidentiality of patient data and laboratory results.
- Assist in developing and implementing laboratory policies and procedures.
- Coordinate with administrative teams for efficient laboratory operations.
- Support accreditation and audit processes.
- Maintain high standards of professional ethics and patient care.
- Contribute to improving diagnostic accuracy and service quality within the laboratory.
