Lab Technician

Lab Technician is responsible for performing routine and specialized laboratory investigations to support accurate diagnosis and treatment of patients. The involves handling clinical samples, conducting laboratory tests, maintaining laboratory equipment, recording test results, and ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards within the healthcare environment.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Collect, label, and process patient samples including blood, urine, and other clinical specimens.
• Perform routine laboratory investigations such as hematology, biochemistry, and microbiology tests.
• Assist in diagnostic support activities for ophthalmic procedures and surgeries.
• Operate, maintain, and monitor laboratory equipment and instruments effectively.
• Ensure calibration and routine maintenance of laboratory equipment and report malfunctions promptly.
• Record, validate, and maintain accurate laboratory test results in laboratory information systems.
• Follow infection control practices and biomedical waste management protocols strictly.
• Ensure compliance with hospital quality standards, NABH guidelines, and laboratory procedures.
• Coordinate with doctors, nursing staff, and other departments for timely reporting of investigations.
• Maintain proper documentation, laboratory registers, and patient records accurately.
• Monitor inventory levels of laboratory reagents, consumables, and supplies.
• Ensure proper storage and handling of laboratory chemicals, reagents, and specimens.
• Support emergency laboratory investigations and urgent diagnostic requirements when required.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and ensure safe handling of clinical information.
• Participate in internal quality checks, audits, and laboratory quality improvement initiatives.
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety within laboratory work areas.
• Perform additional laboratory operations and diagnostic support responsibilities assigned by supervisors or management.
